Diablo VTTT (Viscous Traction Twin Turbo)
(8 Made by Platinum Motors, 1996 & 1998)
The Diablo VTTT was not an official Lamborghini factory offering. 6 VTTT's were produced during 1995 and 2 in 1998, all by Platinum Motors, the official Lamborghini dealership for San Diego and Orange County California, USA. Sticker price for such a car would have set you back $500,000 but it may well have been worth it. Some obviously considered it to be so for the increase in power over the standard VTs and an incredible 222+ mph top speed.
The VTTT was created using Garret T4 turbochargers with electronically controlled waste gates and custom made intercoolers, all accompanied by an appropirate amount of beefing up downstream from the power plant. Upgraded brakes were also included to help slow down this monster, and I hope hope driving lessons.
The cars had a dash-mounted switch to help control power, similar to that on the Corvette ZR1.
- Position 1: Valet, limits motor to 3500 rpm
- Position 2: 6 psi boost, 600+ hp
- Position 3: 9 psi boost, 750+ hp
Statements from one enthusiast lucky enough to drive one were that it had enough power to spin all 4 tires at 72 MPH! Scary!
