Lamborghini Huracan Follow Me Car at Bologna Airport

Follow Me HuracanSant’Agata Bolognese, 20 November 2016

When an airport is built in areas such as Bologna, Italy, it tends to enjoy certain advantages linking up with local tourist attraction to help promote return travellers. And while Bologna is well known for its spectacular cuisine, instead, we're referring to one particularly well known partner who again supplied the new Follow Me vehicle found prowling the runways. For this the airport again turned to nearby Lamborghini for use of its latest Huracan LP610-4 to fill such a task.

The Lamborghini Huracan entered service earlier this week and will continue to turn heads until at least January of next year. We're not kidding about the attention magnet effect of the supercar, as even those who happen to be familiar with the Raging Bull's V10 have plenty of reasons to throw a glance at the mid-engined vehicle greeting them upon landing.

Light bar aside, the newly updated livery seen here comes from Lamborghini's Centro Stile, mixing the chequered flag combined with an appropriate silhouette of the city of Bologna on each side. Oh and if you ever happen to be lost after the landing, the Italian flag on the nose of the super sportscar should at least give you a clue on your general location.

Follow Me HuracanSafety advocates have no reason to fret, though. Any pilot being tempted to give in to his or her car-loving urges and thus risking getting distracted can simply follow the naturally aspirated sound of the Lamborghini V10.

About 16 miles (25 kilometers) is the distance separating the Lamborghini factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese and the Bolognia airport. Perhaps it is hoped the fully-dressed Huracan's airport presence might even inspire some Lamborghini Museum visits.

Regardless, we love it when history repeats itself in such glorious ways, as this isn't the first time a current Lamborghini model fulfilled such duties. If you had opportunity to visit Bologna during the Lamborghini 50th celebrations in 2013 you likely recall seeing the Follow Me Aventador #CLA00064 guiding airport traffic in addition to being on display at the factory on the last day of the festivities. And one can only hope that the next time Lamborghini lend out one of their products in Follow Me attire it will be in the form of the much anticipated Urus SUV expected to debut in the near future.
